The purpose of the Date with a Doctor show is to significantly change the cultural norms in the Black community or any community that will tune in.
But change the cultural norms involving health and preventative medicine. Because health is such a broad topic. We have chosen to look closely at Cancer, Colon cancer is where we would start.
African Americans have the highest incidence rate and death rate from colon cancer of any racial or ethnic group in the US.

Colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths among African American men and women combined and among Hispanic/Latino men and women combined.
However health does not begin and end with Cancer and as you will hear throughout this show and other shows there is a direct link between general health prevention and cancer prevention.
In other words the way you take care of yourself in general may decrease your likelihood or risk for Cancer. Or the way you set your date with the Doctor can increase the likelihood of being treated for a cure if the Cancer is already in your body. |
